Shreveport 2010

We made our semi-annual pilgrimage to Shreveport in July. Maisie got to see her grandparents and Aunt/Uncle and we also got to catch up with some of my childhood friends. It was a quick trip, but we had a great time!

Dinner with Pop, Anne, Aunt Julie and Uncle Ken

Playing with my new friend Noa....I think my mom has pictures of me and Evan (Noa's dad) when we were less than 6 months old.

Hanging in Nanna's yard

With Dad:

Rocking out to "The ABCs" on the car ride back to Houston. Maisie was a trooper in through the 4+ hour carride (and the DVD player didn't hurt either)

Visitors....the first of many

July was a busy month in the Moncrief household. We had visitors galore and also made a trip to Shreveport.

Our first visit was from Brian's sister Jackie and Maisie's cousins - Jackson and Georgia. This was the first time the kids had the chance to meet - but you certainly couldn't tell. They had a blast together.

Swimming:

Eating dinner together:

Jackson throwing the baseball with Brian:

Maisie trying to keep up with Brian and Jackson playing baseball:

Parading around the house:
I have a great video of Jackson, Georgia, and Maisie parading around the house - pushing and pulling Maisie's toys. But, I'm having technical difficulties and will try to post it another time....

Baby Sister

We've been talking to Maisie a lot about the pending arrival of her "baby sister". She definitely knows that baby sister is currently in mommy's belly (and likes to say good night to baby sister - rubbing my belly while we are reading bed time stories). But, we're pretty sure that she has no idea what's coming and how her life is going to change in the next few months.

There have already been some changes around the house. As you saw in the last group of pictures, Maisie moved rooms and we repainted the green stripes that were part of her original nursery in our old house. We've also gotten a room ready for the new baby as well. You all know that Brian and I are pretty ambitious with these projects. Well, this time we went for polka dots instead of stripes....and we're pretty happy with how it turned out!

The countdown is on. Officially 27 days to go...but since Maisie surprised us 2 weeks early, we'll keep you posted!

Pictures

We are a little backed up on our pictures (what few that we've been able to take the last couple of months with our camera issues) . You'll have to wait a little while longer for updates on our trip to Shreveport and pictures of Maisie with Papa and Grammy and Popop and GG, but for now here is May, June, and our vacation (which already seems like ages ago) to Costa Rica.

Here are best of the bunch....

The unfortunate incident

As most people know by now, Maisie had an unfortunate run-in with our glass coffee table about a month ago. It was an incident that sent us to the ER and she ended up with one stitch in her lip. On top of that, her tooth (the one next to the big front tooth) got pushed up in the gum.

But Maisie is a trooper. After a shot to numb her lip, she let the doctor put in the stitch no problem. And here she is just a day or two later - all smiles.

After two trips to the dentist, we decided on a wait-and-see approach to the tooth. The dentist says is looks ok for now (despite being pushed up in the gums), so we just have to keep our fingers crossed that it holds tight so they don't have to pull it (leaving her toothless until the adult tooth comes in around age 7).

Ahh ....the perils of being a toddler.

Singing in the Rain

Singing in the Rain...Just Singing in the Rain...What a glorious feeling...I'm happy again!

Lots of summer showers in Houston, but Maisie doesn't mind:

We went a birthday party at the Noah's Ark Pool and Maisie had a blast going down on the slides and jumping in and out of the water (Daddy ended up soaked too!)"

Aunt Julie's visit

Aunt Julie came to visit about a month ago. We had a fun weekend - a friend's Cinco de Mayo party, playing at the park, eating ice cream. All around a great weekend. And since our camera was broken - Julie was the official photographer. She sent along these great shots:

Chilling in the car seat on the way to the farmers market:

At the park - Maisie was flirting with a little boy 6 month her junior - super cute :)

On the bicycle:

All smiles/clowning around on the slide

You will all be happy to know that the digital SLR is at the camera repair shop having the lens repaired AND we've ordered a new point-n-shoot. So I think its fair to say our picture taking frequency will pick up soon!
